Three of these articles were technically included under the sub-category of nervous systems, leaving 18 articles that studied the reproductive system exclusively. All of the studies analyzed the effects of BPS and other analogs on zebrafish, murines, bovine, swine, human cell lines, and in two clinical/observational trials. There were four zebrafish in vivo studies which reported mixed results. One study from 2017 tested the toxicity, estrogenicity, and teratogenic effects of BPA, BPS, BPF, and BPAF. Their results showed that the toxicity and estrogenicity were similar, with BPAF being more toxic and estrogenic than BPA; while BPS had the least effect. Meanwhile, they reported that teratogenic effects were observed in the heart, liver, fins, muscle, and certain endocrine organs.
